A Reply to a comment left by a reader
This note is in response to a reader who claims I am a hypocrite becase I am against torturing suspected Islamic terrorists.
The reason I am not into this torture malarchy because the very difference between us and those that follow the irrelavant superstition of Islam IS the fact that we maintain our values and don't sink to their level. What do you propose? Do you think that we should kidnap Muslims and cut of their heads live on CNN to stop the Muz bombing us?
Clearly we cannot do this. The ticking bomb argument often used by Israel that enables the secret services to employ otherwise illegal methods to prevent an attack that is already in progress does indeed have merit. However these decisions must be made by people who remain accountable. Without accountability we shrink back and join Islam in the dark ages.
Unfortunately this blog does waiver between my concern at my lifestyle being threatened by Islam and the great fun that we have here. I enjoy writing about the fun far more too!!
Tonight there will indeed be more fun in the Big Mango. Hope to be a part of it and may even take the Cam out!

These wingnut, Shrub-worshipping idiots want to use Nazi tactics to fight radicalism, and their advocacy dishonors the hundreds of thousands of young people we lost trying to rid the world of such filth.

Agreed. Islam is not a religion of peace. Just witness all those women stoned to death for adultery.
I respect you position on torture. But, answer this hypothetical: your 5 y/o daughter has been kidnaped by pervert. You find out he plans to video himself raping her. You have captured his accomplice. You know the police can't torture him to get the needed info. You think you can force the location out of him so you can rescue her. What do you do?
Ya sure I personally would be happy to torture the people in this case. However this case you quote is totally SUBJECTIVE and society MUST be OBJECTIVE and have accountabilty.
I am against capital punishment but in the case quoted I would pull the trigger myself. Again subjective arguments don't hold up when we are talking about how our govt agencies should behave.
