What we do for a living???

Just got asked on a chat 'What exactly do you guys do for living?' Well the answer sound rather glamorous but I can assure you its not. We sell diamonds and 18k jewellery to the WORLD at wholesale prices mostly on Ebay. So if you want to buy Diamond etc and not pay store prices go to http://stores.ebay.com/jewellerywholesale and buy from us.
This will save you thousands of dollars and also ensure that we can maintain our lifestyle here in Bangkok. Oh ya and please take note we are Ebay Powersellers with 100% Positive Feedback...something that trust me is a nightmare to keep.

Failed in the Girl Pics

Ok I went to Kao Saan twice today ...once early this morning with Ralph (now gone to Malaysia for visa run) , then later this afternoon with Homer and struck out on the girl fotos both times....I get shy when taking peoples' pics without their permission....unusual for the word shy to be used when describing me but hey its true... just did this pathetic collage....hardly gonna get the readership up this is it? Anyhow I will get braver as I get used to being that vilest of all creature the Photoroach! The idea was to get a full range of pics from pigs to princesses but really I think I let the side down....try again tomorrow.
I think the trick seems to be to take so many fotos that the law of averages means that you will get one or two decent pics from the general photo babble that is left on your memory card.

So I have two nights of total freedom but to be quite honest I am more interested in waking up feeling fresh and positive rather than putting my penis inside yet another Rice Farmers Daughter.....the joys of an open relationship hey??? Once the forbidden fruit is allowed consumption declines.......interesting point for the anti drug crowd that.

Isn't it just incredible that certain drugs are illegal? How on earth can that be?

The world is flat!

I just Nicked this from another Blog...read it!

I have some advice for any westerners out there contemplating moving to Thailand. If you are rich and are sensible with money, then go ahead. If an international company or similar offers you a high salaried job in Thailand then fine. If you are retired or have steady funds from abroad and want to live modestly on those funds, go ahead, but watch yourself. And if you're a young dude travelling around the world, and you want to spend some time in Thailand teaching or whatever for experience, then that's OK too.

But if you don't fall into these categories then *don't* consider it for a moment. Many middle aged westerners in particular (including professionals) like the idea of living there, having a business or making some money and "enjoying life" in Thailand. But very few make it. (Forget about western restaurant or bar owners and alike you might meet in Thailand boasting about their good life there. It is common for faltering foreigners to keep up appearances). Mostly they end up broke or crazed, sometimes both. Then they leave.

Thai business, visa and residency laws get you in the end. The "Thai way" will get you in the end. Have a minor run-in with a wealthy or important Thai and your status and possibly your life will be at risk. Their whole culture is geared around making sure that foreigners pursuing individual efforts are not successful. It's ingrained in them from an early age to believe that they are the never-colonised master race of Asia (yes they really do think that) and their mythology runs so deep you'll never budge it. Remember, in Thailand you'll never have any real business, legal or ownership rights. But Thais can go to your country (very possibly) and buy and own anything they can get their sticky hands on (because of the more tolerant business laws). To Thais, this is just further evidence of how clever they are, and how foolish are the foreigners to go to Thailand.

Remember too, that Thailand is dominated by a comparatively small military-industrial elite. They have all the power and most of the wealth in the country. The idea of western foreigners living in the country and achieving wealth and status through individual entrepreneurial efforts is seen as a threat to the hegemony that they have over the Thai underclass - the bulk of the population. For this reason, it is never allowed to happen.

Think of Thailand, for westerners, as being a bit like a casino. A casino is a place with a touch of excitement, the lure of good fortune/the good life, and a place for fun, even with a bit of a risk. Go to a casino every now and then for fun and that's OK. Go there everyday all-day and you will ultimately lose, because the House Advantage will always get you. So it is in Thailand. The Thai "House Advantage" will get you. They make sure of it.

Of course, if going to Thailand with all your money and slowly losing it and ending up teaching English for a pittance (because that's about all you can do), either illegally or working legally but being treated like a serf by Thai institutions, appeals to you then go ahead. Maybe a hand to mouth virtual poverty lifestyle appeals to you. And running around the country several times a year getting visas, or always being at the mercy of authorities on visa matters might also be your bag. If so, then go ahead, at least you'll be able to spend your nights at cheap restaurants sharing your impoverishment and frustration with other exploited western teachers. If not, think seriously.

In case you are thinking, let me say that I am not a former go-go bar owner gone bust, I have not lost my all doing business with Thais, no I haven't been cheated of everything by a bar-girl, no I haven't been reduced to the indignity of teaching English for a pittance. I have my own money, have spent a lot of time in Thailand, and have done some business there, have observed the experiences of a lot of foreigners, can see what goes on, and have enough concern to want to tell others about it. If my words can prevent even one westerner of modest means from selling up and going to "enjoy life" in Thailand (and getting shafted in the end) then that will be something. Don't make the mistake of thinking that as a foreigner (even with professional skills) you can "make a contribution" to Thailand, no matter how good your intentions or needed your skills may be. Your contribution will *never* be welcomed, only your money. There is a saying in Thai that captures it well: "farang roo mark mai dee" - foreigners who know too much [about Thailand] are no good.

Gullible tourists, however, are great. So, go to Thailand as a tourist if you like, enjoy what you enjoy there, but don't be taken in by the culture or people, as many westerners have, and don't under any circumstances give up anything back home to go and stay there unless you are financially secure for life, or know exactly what you are doing. There is a tradition of resident foreigners in Thailand not telling to the truth about the country because they don't like to admit to themselves and to others about the mistake they have made in moving there. But especially now, with the financial mess Thailand has got itself into through a mixture or greed, incompetence, arrogance and corruption, and the prospect of difficult times ahead (to say the least) it is time for plain speaking.

A final comment to anyone in strong disagreement with me. Unless you have lived, worked and conducted business in Thailand for several years at least, I'm not interested. The views of "oh how can you say that, Thailand is really great" 2 week tourists carry no weight with those of us who know Thailand and Thais well.

The article does gloss over the fact that one or two farang-run businesses are actually quite successful but the author clearly knows what he’s talking about. Thailand is a tough place to do business and throwing a Thai hooker into the mix makes it tougher still.

Does your Isaan Goat wear braces???

Now isnt this Pic just so cool...see the female goat has the fashionable braces that have spread across SE Asia like anti americanism!
The quest by so many westerners here in Bangkok to hang out with the girl who looks most like a hooker just amazes me...I mean ok straight Thai birds are a nightmare too but why would you wanna marry a hooker? Love is hard enough fucking work without the concern that your Missus has slept with the US 7th Fleet each year since she was 19!!! Particularly when most of them look like yon Goat from Korat.....

Manchurian Candidate and cool website

Just finished watching the Snipes conspiracy...the Manchurian Candidate....ya we all see the Halliburton links but just how true are all these conspiracies? I can't get my head around them....all I do know is that we in the West who scream democracy and freedom from the rooftops now are selling our rights and freedoms down the road. All this Guantanamo, torture, prison without trial....errrrr weren't they the reasons why we ousted Saddam????

Great Bangkok website cum Blog that needs to be looked at http://mangosauce.com

Collage of bits of the trip!

Overall what would I say about Cambodia...well its a great sight to see that they have really started to get things together over there. The fact that firearms are not so prevalent is a great relief...even the Polis don't carry them as a general thing now in fact I only saw one firearm at all and that was a Copper with an AK 47 under his seat guarding the Gold street.
The city feels safe, the people are polite and in most service environments have a good level of English.
The party scene is good to very good...the Disco known as "holiday' which has a casino on the side is a big rave joint for the rich Khmer and their concubines...drugs are awash Police don't seem to care...I could see that after 5 more years of Singaporisation that Cambodia may rival Thailand as a place where expats would like to live.
Sexwise...yes its a sex destination...lots of girls for sale working freelance in a non abusive system....however there are 'meat shops' too for the locals and foreign Asian clientelle and I am sure that the abuse of youngies is rife there as it is in all Asian countries. Didn't see any evidence of under age stuff available to Westerners and I thought that girls inBars etc were generally quite lovely...
Overall if you are similar to The Wizard..... "GO THERE!!"

Da rich people are as throughout the world incredibly rich and far removed from the normal 'Joe'.

Need to go and look at Angkor next time...

Temples by the river side

Mighty Mekong, Cheery Blossoms and the stench of Ganja....didnt smooke any ma'self but could smell it everywhere....

I likes it here

French influence is undeniable...and very pleasant. Still don't like the fuckers though!

Undertakers....Cambodia style...

The spectre of child abuse....targetting westerners. Good idea but the Asian child abusers still continue undisturbed by the 'bleeding hearts' who generally seem to object to any form of sexual contact for western men over the age of 30 unless its with a white whale with the attitude of a White Pointer...smiling at a western girl seems to be not socially acceptable anymore however being aggressive and fat as a woman is....or have I got it wrong?

Western opulence on the other side of the bank.

Shanty Towns on the banks of the Mekong..

One of many victims...again less amputees on display here now....the place is definitely improving....

Cherry Blossoms............

Baguettes are all the go here!

Zero traffic Rules

Central Market....no guns visible here in Cambodia anymore...

Similarities with Indo...except the people arent so bad.

Planning our first Recce Patrol

Sam Raineys Party near our Hotel...Sam is on the run from the authorities

Multiple Passengers a must

Very similar To Indo..

Arrived at the new luxury airport....photos taken and run on a facial recognition database....whose database though? Pound to a penny it was Attilla the Bush's.

Papal Insanity

Vatican offers exorcism lessons
By Mark Duff BBC News, Milan
The Vatican university is launching a new course for exorcists - Roman Catholic priests who cast out evil spirits from the possessed.
Lessons at the prestigious Athenaeum Pontificium Regina Apostolorum will include the history of Satanism and its context in the Bible.
Practical lessons in psychology and the law will also feature.
Concern is high in Italy about the influence of Satanic cults - especially among the young and impressionable.
And there will also be seminars at the Athenaeum, or Upra as it is known, on the spiritual, liturgical and pastoral work involved in being an exorcist.
The ideal exorcist
Father Giulio Savoldi has been Milan's official exorcist for more than 20 years.
He did not have the benefit of training but is in no doubt about what he would include in any course for candidates to take on the task of fighting evil in the raw - and the qualities needed of any would-be exorcist.
"I would include the supernatural force - the presence of God - and then suggest that the man picked to do this kind of work be wise and that he should know how to gather strength not just from within himself but from God," he says.
"Because each case of possession is different, each person possessed is different. Those studying to become exorcists should also study psychology and know how to distinguish between a mental illness and a possession.
"And - finally - they need to be very patient."
Next week - in a case that has captured the public imagination - a court outside Milan is due to consider murder charges against a group of young people accused of killing two teenagers as part of a Satanic rite.
For Father Savoldi, the case just confirms his belief in the power of evil to make the most of human weakness.

Is the Church really seen as anything or than IRRELEVANT these days? I mean who could belive the stories that eminate from these people anyway? They lie about everything else so why wouldn't they have made the stories (Bible) up as well?

Cambodia Trip.....6 years ago was my first trip there and frankly it just wasn't my cup of tea at all. The party scene consisted of Vietnamese Under age girls who just tugged at our arms as we stumbled through the disco. Not my scene at all. Beggers and incessant moto drivers bothering you as only poor people walk.....looking forward to Sihanoukville though although I am told that they have crocodiles there in the lake....

A Test Of Morality

With all your honour and dignity, what would you do? This test only has one question, but it's a very important one.

Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will be able to test where you stand morally.

The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation, where you will have to make a decision one way or the other.

Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous.

Please scroll down slowly and consider each line - this is important for the test to work accurately.

You're in Florida...In Miami, to be exact... There is great chaos going on around you, caused by a hurricane and severe floods. There are huge masses of water all over you. You are a Time-Life photographer and you are in the middle of this great disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless.

You are trying to shoot very impressive photos. There are houses and people floating around you, disappearing into the water. Nature is showing all its destroying power and is ripping everything away with it.

Suddenly you see a man in the water, he is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away by the masses of water and mud. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar.

Suddenly you know who it is - it's George W. Bush! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him away, forever.

You have two options. You can save the life of George W. Bush, or you can shoot a Pulitzer prize winning photo, a unique photo displaying the death of one of the world's most powerful men.

And here's the question (please give an honest answer):

Would you select color film, or rather go with the simplicity of
classic black and white?

Today is the start of a few days break from the Party...its pretty incredible to believe that we manage to run a sensible business AND do all this......I keep waiting for something to go wrong.

Three Elves....top little workers this crew...find them pounding the pavements doing timeshare surveys all over the city....

Supposed to be working but the Party never ends...yes we were in Muzzic Cafe again. The Pests just cant stay in. Todd, Marcus Efi and her survery squad were out.....hookers music....ENOUGH.......we need to rest.

Basil Of Bali Due to Land Soon!

As the McIntosh Monster (Basil to his dearest) is preparing to arrive in The Big Mango I thought it would be pertinant to post this collage of his last jaunt here....will he survive Cambodia??? Will any of us?

Gun Madness

The right to bear arms is nearly as ridiculous as the right to arm bears.....a pro firearm guy in the US said to me that: 'the gun is just a tool like a hammer. Its what the person does with it that matters'.
Well thats quite interesting....I know that there are 11 500 gun deaths in the US each year....I wonder if the number of hammer deaths is equal or less than that?
Another point on that....a hammer is a tool designed to knock nails in and a firearm is a tool designed to kill people....a job that it does rather well I might add.

Just gotta love this pic from Australia..Valentines day....errrrrrrr can't get over how the Asians go so mad for it....we just did the usual...no pics though 'cos Ralp had an unrousable and missed the night out...pics to night though for sure.

The trip to Cambodia

Well visa runs, talk of cheap land, the ongoing Singaporisation of Thailand has led to a trip being planned to visit Cambodia. The Pest hasn't been there for 6 years...it wasn't what you would call a fun trip last time...Toul Sleng School (if you don't know what that is...you should do..try google) kinda made the trip a bit macabre. The whole wild west feel to Cambodia wasn't one that thrilled but I am told this time will be different. Phnom Penh for two nights in a decent enough hotel for 30$ a night then off to Sihanoukville where we are told that opportunities await... anyway a nice beach and opportunity to tan my arse is whats important... Consorting with the natives.......?
NOT HALF!

From the BBC

Fines for 'droopy drawers' backed
US politicians fed up with catching an eyeful of underwear want to fine those who won't hitch up their trousers.
The Virginia state house has voted to outlaw the trend of wearing trousers so low that underwear hangs over the top.
Delegates said the habit, popular across the US and in other Western countries, was "coarsening" society.
But others hit back, urging legislators to remember their own "fashion follies" and saying the law would be used mostly against black people.
The house adopted the "droopy drawers" bill by a margin of 60-34.

Have legislators really got nothing better to do with their time? I mean aren't their millions of hungry people in the US??

Efi in Kao Saan and Music Cafe thought we would make a collage of it.

A little under the weather.....

In music cafe! Still Mad!

Efi and Dave Hayden. This girl is mad! Barking mad.
